We knew there was a good day ahead

Tuesday and Thursday we have tech

Walking in a line looks like a wreck

Graphics and Music are some subjects we do

Most of us don’t really have a clue  

Maths is something we do in the noon

Our teacher feeds strategies to us like a spoon

Gloss testing is currently being done

I really hope i'm not the first one

Thinkboard - Wk 5 2015

This here is my thinkboard for this week. Like always, we had a different question. It is 215.5 x 20. We had to figure out the answer by showing a diagram of our thinking, what strategy I used, 10 other similar questions and a word story problem.

It was one lovely night and the moon was glissering high in the sky. I had been waiting for this special night as it is my birthday. I had some of my awesome friends come over to my house for a sleepover. My mother and I had planned an agenda for us to do.

First on our list, was to go and collect everyone up from there houses. My friends that were coming over were Lesieli, Nikita and Quasia. Nikita got dropped off but we went to collect the others.

When everyone had been comfortably sitting down waiting for what was going to happen. We decided to go and pick up some delicious pizza from Pizza Hut. We had already pre-ordered it so we just needed to pick it up. As I was sitting down, I could smell the delicious aroma of the pizza rising from the box as it was slowly making it’s way across the room. Therefore, it caused me to drool a little.

Once all of the pizza was finished, we headed to Skateland. Skateland is an indoor roller skating rink for anyone that is willing to skate just for fun. We had arrived and it wasn’t that packed with people. We had collected our roller skates and headed towards the rink. As I was putting my skates on, I could see exciting faces on people in the rink and I was so eager to get in and start rolling around.

Once I entered the rink, I was really nervous and excited at the same time because I hadn’t had skated for a really long time. When I first started, I held on to the side of the rink because I wasn’t ready to let go yet. Opposite me was, Nikita. She doesn’t really like roller skating but she gave it a go and I was proud of her. A few minutes later was flying like an eagle in the sky. She wasn’t even scared anymore and I wasn’t too.

We stayed at skateland for about 2 to 3 hours and then we decided to leave. When we arrived back home, and we set up our beds downstairs and had all of our showers. While, 1 was in the shower, everyone else was just helping to set up for our night time slumber party! We had already picked out our snacks a few hours before at Pak’n’save and we had a movie playing for us to enjoy while we were relaxing.

The next day, we headed to Jump NZ for just a little fun for us to have before we took everybody home. We had received our Jump socks and then walked into the Trampoline arena. We could see a foam pit, a dodgeball bit, a free run area and a basketball hoop area. We all couldn’t wait to just get in and jump around. We were so thrilled and delighted.  

We then decided to go and play dodgeball. It was so Hilarious. Lesieli nearly got a ball to the face and so did Quasia and Nikita. But the funny thing is, that we were versing little kids and they were better than us. I couldn’t believe it. It was just a game in the end though.

While everyone was jumping around, my mum had bought us some drinks so we wouldn’t die of thirst. Once, we had finished our drinks, we then went to get some lunch. We drove straight to KFC for lunch so we could put something into our empty stomachs. I didn’t really want KFC, I wanted Mcdonalds but sadly, my mum said “NO, we will just have KFC because it is closer to our house”.  

Next, we then, sadly had to drop everyone off to there houses. I didn’t want to but we had to because, Lesieli and Quasia had to go to church and Nikita, well, she didn’t have to go, but she didn’t want to be the only girl left. So, we just took her home anyway.

How to Prevent Yourself from Getting Sick!!

Winter is the time of year when most people contract an illness. This is for various reasons such as the temperature. The weather conditions are really poor lately. Temperatures drop to as low as 3 to 4 degrees in Auckland. With temperatures that low people often fall sick accordingly, the cold can affect your body, therefore you should cover up with warm clothing. This explanation will provide you with information that will help prevent you becoming sick this winter.

One way to keep yourself nice and well is to take vitamin C. Vitamin C is really good to take when you are sick. It has all of the citrus in oranges, lemons, limes and other fruits like that. The citrus should help you feel refreshed and it will prevent you from getting sick.

Another way of keeping well is by getting the flu shot. If you do get the flu shot, it will help you even more so you won’t get sick. Doctors and nurses inject you with a little bit of the flu that is filled with vaccines and antibodies that are good for you, It will prevent you from getting sick.

The last way that can help you from not getting sick is too keep yourself clean. Taking a shower, using hand sanitizer and washing your hands will make all of the dirt and germs that are on you, disappear.`1236

Those are some things that you can do to prevent yourself from getting sick. I hope that you got to find out some new information on things that you can do, to not get you sick. If you do these things, it will help you a lot and you shouldn’t get sick any time soon.

Netball Tournament on Wednesday 12 of August.

On Wednesday, a group of 5, 6, 7 and 8 students were selected to play in a mixed tamaki Cluster Inter Zone tournament on Wednesday the 12th of August. All of the teams had around 10 - 12 players. For one game only 4 girls and 3 boys were allowed to play on the court at a time. 

First, we had to go and get changed into our netball uniforms and be ready to play against other schools. We had to be at school at 8am and leave at 8.45. When we departed from our school, all of the other tamaki schools were there. Some were watching people play and some were playing. 

Our first game was against Stonefields. They were pretty easy to verse but it was a bit challenging for some of us. Our goal defence (GD) got a lot of intercepts and so did our wing attack (WA). I was playing goal shooter (GS) and so was this other boy in my team, we were taking turns.

All of our games were challenging but overall we won 4 games and lost 2, we came 4th out of 10 schools and I think that is okay. I was really proud with our team and we came a really good placing.
