Hook: Today, we had a very exciting surprize for us at school.

At 9.25 today all of the senior school had to assemble in the street because 4 inspiring people were coming in. There names were Paula Fakalata, Amelia Unufe, Anthony Samuels and Andrew Patterson. They were coming in to talk to us about our future aspirations.

First up to speak was, Anthony Samuels. Anthony used to be on the show ‘ What Now’ many years ago. Like in the year 1995 to 2005. He was talking to us about ‘To Miharo Hoki’. Which means ‘ You are Amazing’. Anthony was also talking about 1 phrase and 1 key. The phrase was ‘Your past does not have to determine your future’.

Next to speak was, Paula Fakalata. Paula was talking about how you should always do your best and never give up. Paula was also telling us a story about when he was a young boy. The story was about him and how he went to a swimming championship and nearly died. It was a really surprising story.

Now it was time for, Amelia Unufe to speak. Amelia is in her 2nd year completing a bachelor of design. She is also majoring in fashion at AUT University. Amelia also was part of the “I have a Dream” programme. When she was there she got a lot of support from a range of different people.

Amelia was also was telling us that we she was in primary people thought the negative side of her instead of the positive side. People were telling her that she wouldn’t go anywhere because she was in the lowest class at school. But now, she is on her way to get a fashion label and a degree.

To end off a great morning, our senior school sang the school song ‘ Mihi Mai ra’ and Isara and Gloria said thank yous to the inspiring people. When we finished singing, the students were sent back to class and the inspiring people left.

My Wonderful Weekend...!

To end of a great day of the week, our class got the opportunity to go outside for sports on a Friday afternoon. We got to play all types of sports. Like, volleyball, touch, netball and many more sports. When the 3.00 o’clock bell went school was finished and the weekend had began.

On Saturday, my family and I were planning to have a family day out. We decided to go out after my mum had a decent amount of sleep. While she was sleeping, my brother and were playing outside with our next door neighbours. There names are Ethan, Rikki - Jo and Kalani.

When my mum woke up we all went to Onehunga pools. But, unfortunately it was a change for plans. My mum and dad decided not to go to the pools because they were too tired so, we just went back home. When we got home, my mum and dad just relaxed and my brother and I played outside.

On Sunday, my mum had won tickets for a breakfast at AMI netball a few days before and we went to the breakfast on Sunday. When we got to the cafe, we got to choose what we wanted for breakfast. My mum and dad got 2x big breakfast, I got eggs benedict with bacon, and my brother got a scone and bagels with cream cheese and jam. Overall, all of our meals we tasty and delicious.

When that was done, we all decided to go to the markets that was just 2 minutes away for the cafe. My mum brought veggies and my dad brought a load of strawberries. My dad brought 5 bunches and my mum brought 5 bunches so, we had 10 bunches overall.

We finally arrived at home and, my mum had a great idea. She said for my brother and I to wash the car. Wash the car for money of course. I would get $10 from my mum for washing her car and, $5 from my dad for washing his car. While we were out there washing the car, my brother and I decided to get wet under the hose in our togs.

My brother and I, washed the cars. But then, we got to play with water. My mum filled up my brothers little bath and my brother sat in it. But for me, I got wet under the hose. My mum sprayed me with the hose and I was get wet. It was a fun play with the water.

When we finished washing the car and having fun with water, my mum make my brother and I strawberries and cream. My brother and I were just sitting on the front step scoffing our mouth with cream and delicious red fresh strawberries.

Overall, I had a wonderful weekend (like my title says). I think it was the best weekend I had with my family. My highlight of my weekend was having fun with water.

Thurday Night Market

Yesterday night was the night that my dad, brother and I went to the Night Markets Underneath Dressmart. If you don’t know what the night markets are well, it is when people are holding stores at night in a car park underneath shops in Auckland suburbs.

When I found out that we were going to the night market I was so overwhelmed and so was my brother. We were going to the night markets with my aunty and my cousins. We were leaving at 8.00pm to go to the night markets and will arrive at 8.30pm.

After we arrived at the night markets, the car park was filled with people and stores. Wherever we looked we could only see people and stores. And smell the different types of food that was there. There was asian food, chinese food, samoan food, sweet food and many many more.

While we were walking around the markets we could smell food, and that was making us hungry. We walked to the best BBQ place there and it smelled delicious. You could just smell the smell of marinaded meat and big beef burgers. My dad and auntie brought to BBQ plates and I brought a lil mama burger.

After all of our food was sorted, my cousin decided to go and play this game where you have to through a ring over a prize and if you get it over, you get the prize. My cousin and I didn’t do that well. I tried to get the head buds and so did my cousin. In the end we both failed and we just got a soft drink each.

When we finished playing the game, we all decided to go back to the car and eat. While we were eating my burger tasted really nice. With all of the bacon, the pattie and the sauces, the burger tasted good. The BBQ also tasted good as well. Especially the potato and pasta salad.

Sadly, the night came to an end and we had to go back home. Overall, I think that night was fun and especially really packed with people. I  think whenever you go to a night market, I recommend to get a churro or try BBQ that you see.

Athletics Day - Part 2

Our next rotation after relays was The Skipping race. All we had to do was skip to the first cone and back. When that was accomplished, we got to have a little fun with the skipping ropes. We got to do skipping and play over the moon with the ropes.

After The Skipping race we had to do the ladders and hurdles race. When we did the race we had to run through the ladders and the jump over the hurdles. Then, we had to race. The first team to complete the course had won.

When we had finished the ladders and hurdles, our next rotation was Shot Put. When we did shot put there we two male helpers that were helping us to throw the shot put properly and how to throw it. When I through it, I didn’t do that well. In 1st place was Ata, 2nd place Jordenne and in 3rd place was Iron.

After Shot Put it was time for lunch. Lunch was only 30 minutes long so we would have enough time to do rotations. A little bit of time for lunch. When lunch was over the girls and I was going to do High Jump. In high jump I am a right hand writer so I ran with my right leg. Unfortunately I didn’t make the top 3 but, In first place was Jordenne, 2nd place was Asena and in 3rd place was Mua.

When high jump was finished our next rotation was sprints. When we did sprints we had to run 50m and then 100m. I didn’t run because of a knee injury but the other girls ran. Jordenne and Josephine came a placing and so did Janise. I don’t know what placing they got.

Sprints was the last rotation. Today, we are going to be finishing off rotations we didn't do on Friday. I will write about that soon!

Athletics Day - Part 1

Athletics is a 1 day or more filled with sports during that time. If you didn't know what athletics is well, now you know.

On Friday the 14th of November was the day that our School Athletics was held. Every year there is a athletics day held on the field. This year was the 2014 athletics day and I am going to be telling you about the experience.

First, our whole school started the day off with assembly. It started off like a normal Friday. After assembly the school had at least 30 minutes of class time till morning tea. Morning was at 10.30. A little bit earlier than usual.

After morning tea was when athletics had began. The gear was all set up on the field and every student at the school had to make there way to the hard courts. Once everyone was assembled Mr Burt said the prayer and then athletics had started.
All of the students were split into different year groups. So, I was in the Year 7 girls group and I competed with the year 7 girls. And same went for the other students as well.

Our first rotation was softball throw. If you don’t know what softball throw is well it is really simple. You just have to throw a softball a far distance to win. I was up first to throw and I didn't do that well. I only got the ball to the third cone. So……

Next rotation was relays. In relays you had to run with a swim noodle to the first cone and then run back. After we ran with the noodle we had to run with the baton. This time we had to run to the second cone and then come back. The first team with everyone that ran then you would win.

To be continued!

Thank You Shantna!

Dear Shantna,

I would just like to thank you for coming on the trip to the museum. Without you we wouldn’t have gone. You are a very helpful and independent person.

I really liked you being our groups parent helper. You were very helpful on the trip and you were very very funny. In our group you were the one that made us laugh the most. I know we were on a school trip and we were supposed to focus but can I say you were a funny person on the trip.

On the trip I really liked the way that everyone listened to you, sometimes. Besides the girls running down the stairs and the boys wandering off we were a pretty good group especially with you as our parent helper.

Shantna, for the final time I would just like to thank you again for coming on the trip. You were a very helpful person and again if it wasn’t for you we wouldn’t have gone to the museum because there wouldn't have been enough helpers unlike you.

Thank You Very Much!!

Yours Sincerely,
Rave..!
